    <title>Lavastorm Analytics Engine Enhances Data Visualization Capabilities for Business Analysts with Deeper QlikView and Microsoft Excel Integration</title>
    <link>https://www.modernanalyst.com/Resources/News/tabid/177/ID/2518/Lavastorm-Analytics-Engine-Enhances-Data-Visualization-Capabilities-for-Business-Analysts-with-Deeper-QlikView-and-Microsoft-Excel-Integration.aspx</link>
    <description>Lavastorm Analytics Engine 4.6 Also Increases and Simplifies Data Management Capabilities and Adds Support for VMWare Virtual Machines
&amp;#160;
Boston, Massachusetts – February 20, 2013 – Lavastorm Analytics, a leading global analytics software company, announced today the availability of version 4.6 of its award-winning Lavastorm Analytics Engine, the company’s powerful, visual and versatile analytic development environment. The latest version of the Lavastorm Analytics Engineadds a range of functions and benefits for business analysts, including new support for QlikTech QlikView and Microsoft Excel desktop data visualization tools to help analyze data and publish results, streamlined data integration capability, support for VMWare 5 virtual machines, and more.
&amp;#160;
The Lavastorm Analytics Engine has long provided native facilities for data visualization, and, through a partnership with QlikTech that was formalized in 2012, also offered the ability to export analytics built in the Lavastorm Analytics Engine to compatible QlikView file formats. Release 4.6 builds on these abilities by allowing users to use QlikView and Excel as their default data viewer and visualization tools to analyze or publish data sets from any point in an analytic model created with the Lavastorm Analytics Engine. Coupled with Lavastorm’s powerful data management, analytic, ETL and data integration software capabilities, as well as the visual approach to the data modeling process that brings transparency to the underlying analytic logic , the Lavastorm Analytics Engine gives business analysts a comprehensive, powerful, and easy to use environment to develop complex analytics, completely trust their data, discover insights, and publish results for information consumers.
&amp;#160;
“Data discovery and visualization are hugely important for business users who want a self-service, agile business intelligence environment,” said Robin Bloor,&amp;#160;founder&amp;#160;Bloor Research.&amp;#160;“Getting this right requires business and IT groups to equip teams with the appropriate tools, skills and processes, but it’s important to avoid taking a one-size-fits-all approach. This integration by Lavastorm is a great example of how to marry effective data&amp;#160;integration and analytic capabilities to serve the needs of both information producers and information consumers so that a broader user group within organizations can quickly understand and derive value from their data.”of&amp;#160;
&amp;#160;
The new QlikView and Excel integrations can be seen in action by viewing two new video demonstrations:
&#183;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160; See the QlikView integration here: http://bit.ly/Y2gl6E

&amp;#160;
In addition to these new visualization options, Lavastorm Analytics Engine 4.6 also adds a number of other beneficial capabilities that help make it even easier to learn and use, some of which include:

    Drag-and-drop file acquisition so thatdata files can be dropped directly into the Lavastorm Analytics Engine interface and automatically configured.

&#183;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160; Virtual environment support for server-based versions of the Lavastorm Analytics Engine through new compatibility VMWare 5 and Red Hat Linux 6 virtual machines.

    Excel node enhancements for full support of the .XLSX format, allowing for direct, automatic updating of existing Excel sheets from within the Lavastorm Analytics Engine analytic flow, as well as for appending Lavastorm Analytics Engine data to existing workbooks.
    Simplified license administrationwhereby all users now receive the same software package, with access to features controlled by the software license.

&amp;#160;
Lavastorm has also updated the Lavastorm Analytics Engine’s help system so that users can learn and leverage the Lavastorm Analytics Engine faster and more effectively. The help system now uses a unified browser window and features improvements to the HTML renderings that make it easier to navigate. Additionally, Lavastorm has added a series of multimedia tutorials, including technology notes, graphs, data, and video content.
&amp;#160;
“Every enterprise BI team endeavors to make data and analytics more easily accessible to the people who need to make decisions quickly, and Lavastorm Analytics Engine 4.6 is all about making this self-service analytics notion a bigger reality,” said Drew Rockwell, CEO, Lavastorm Analytics. “Stronger visualization abilities let business analysts work with data more intuitively, and support for virtual environments enables IT teams to grant these enhanced capabilities to their business partners more flexibly. In combination, Lavastorm Analytics Engine 4.6 will help teams improve their analytic agility and find the value in their data even faster.”

    <title>MDS Launches Enhanced Fraud Detection and Resolution for Lavastorm Analytics Platform</title>

    <description>
Platform enhancements allow mobile operators to take advantage of improved analysis for increasingly complex fraud risk

BOSTON &amp;amp; WARRINGTON, United Kingdom--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MDS Lavastorm Analytics&amp;#160;(formerly MDA), has today launched a raft of additional features for the Lavastorm Analytics Platform, specifically designed for the growing complexity of fraud threats. The expanded Resolution Center and Transaction Warehouse modules provide additional functionality for communication service providers (CSPs) to detect, analyze and prevent new types of complex fraud through a single platform, ensuring that they are on the front foot in the battle against fraud.
With each new service launched by CSPs, new methods of usage-based fraud develop; and most recently these activities are taking the&amp;#160;form&amp;#160;of social media or SIM card fraud. These new risks place increased demands on analytics platforms, requiring that they cope with exponential increases in data volumes while simultaneously detecting and appropriately responding to a growing range of fraud attempts.
The updates to the Lavastorm Analytics Platform provide an extra layer of customized real-time fraud management, designed to uncover and act on fraud in the communications industry. It enables CSPs to review call detail records and other event data from any data source including switches, billing systems and rating systems through a single interface. The platform also allows workflow and case management to be managed in near real-time through a graphical web-based UI for an extra layer of accessibility.
Drew Rockwell, CEO, MDS commented: “With the rapid pace of the telecoms market today and the ever-evolving fraud threat, businesses need agile and robust systems to be able to share information and identify patterns easily across the&amp;#160;business. Speed is of the essence in reacting to fraudulent activity and the updated Lavastorm Analytics Platforms enables businesses to act on accurate, in-depth information faster than ever.
“The new platform easily adapts to changing threats, as well as changes in internal business requirements such as case management priorities and financial goals, enabling users to create and schedule tailored reports across the business, allowing internal teams to easily flag potential threats and share the information easily with other departments that may be affected by similar threat patterns.”

Powerful Low-cost Tool Gives Individuals the Independence to Gain Valuable Insight into their Data to Rapidly Uncover Trends and Build Complex Analytics

BOSTON--For business analysts looking for a high performance tool to give them broad new capabilities to analyze and leverage their business data to create insight for their senior management, MDA today announced the launch of Lavastorm Desktop Professional (LD Professional). LD Professional is an individually-licensed business analytics tool available for online purchase, giving business analysts increased independence and access to a low-cost, intuitive tool that empowers them to easily acquire any structured data, build analytic models and simplify analytics reporting.

“With the new online purchase option for LD Professional, we’re cutting the red tape, and enabling business analysts to bridge the cost, performance and ease-of-use gap in the market.”

Most business analytics solutions require users to understand technical programming languages or work closely with internal resources to get access to the atomic-level data needed to analyze major business problems. With solutions that attempt to bridge this gap usually only available as larger, server-grade installations that entail longer cost approval and installation times, frustrated individual business users have typically had to rely on low power tools to conduct complex and comprehensive analytics.
The online availability of LD Professional addresses this need by providing business analysts with a low-cost, high-power tool they can decide to purchase independently that provides intuitive, visualization-based business analytics capabilities and only requires a basic level of software understanding.
“Many of today’s desktop business analytics solutions fail to handle significant data volumes or complex and conditional queries. Business analysts are frustrated with low-power tools, requiring work-arounds like constructing their analytics in complex programming languages or waiting for purchase approval of large enterprise-scale, server-based suites,” said Andrew Rockwell, Chief Executive Officer, MDA. “With the new online purchase option for LD Professional, we’re cutting the red tape, and enabling business analysts to bridge the cost, performance and ease-of-use gap in the market.”
Those interested in learning more about Lavastorm Desktop Professional’s capabilities and seeing it in action are invited to attend a live webinar on Thursday May 19, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, led by MDA’s CTO, Rich Boccuzzi. To register for the complimentary webinar, please visit: Intro to LD Professional Webinar.
Key Facts about Lavastorm Desktop Professional

    The visual development environment enables a repeatable analytic approach to drive business decisions and take meaningful actions.
    The tool includes comprehensive, pre-configured analytic functions (nodes), rather than technical programming languages, enabling easy acquisition and manipulation of data sets for a highly-visual and interactive user experience that shortens the time and improves the accuracy of complex data analytics.
    LD Professional is available for immediate direct purchase or 30-day free trial, requiring only a simple software installation procedure on the user’s desktop.
    Users get access to both pre-packaged training that comes with the software and can also join scheduled online group training sessions with MDA experts.
